C.F.F. ILLINOIS PANCAKE BREAKFAST

The fundraiser was celebrated the first weekend of November with a pancake breakfast.  It was also a celebration of the life of Phil Speracino, a dear friend and longtime support of C.F.F.  We honor his memory below:

PHIL SPERACINO AT C.F.F. SPAGHETTI DINNER 2013

SPAGHETTI DINNER BENEFIT

In November 2013 C.F.F was welcomed by Seward Congregation Church, in Seward, Illinois. It was here, we celebrated our first Spaghetti Dinner benefit.  It was a fun evening of food, fellowship and faith as Ms. Merchant shared her ministry goals and vision of C.F.F. with her girlhood church family. A heartfelt thanks to Seward Congregational Church for hosting the event.  Special thanks to Phil and MaryLou Speracino, Karleen Merchant, Sharon Cowman, Nancy McCoy, Julie Fry, Bev Allen and the Seward Congregation for behind the scene support.

The idea for C.F.F’s Illinois fundraising effort was born, when my uncle, Phil Speracino volunteered to make spaghetti sauce and meatballs for our ministry benefit.  A lover of people and food, Phil’s idea was the perfect suggestion to bring our mission to share with our supporters in Illinois.  Our previous 2 benefits, saw Phil at the helm of the kitchen duties…from meal prep, to clean-up.  It was in his humble, joyful servanthood that Phil’s heart and spirit reflected the life and love of his kind Savior Jesus.  He was, and is a testimony of God’s compassionate love and grace.  Despite being diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer, Phil continued to let his light shine before people and live his life for Christ’s glory.  During his visit to my home in Colorado this past summer, Phil suggested this year’s C.F.F. benefit be a pancake breakfast.  Although, unsure of his own health future, Phil encouraged us to move forward with plans for a November benefit.  This past week, my Uncle Phil’s faith was made sight.  Though we mourn his daily presence in our lives, we rejoice in Phil being healed and home with Jesus.  Today we celebrate Phil’s life. We honor and rejoice at the memory of his faith in Christ, his kindness and compassion to others and the love which he so freely bestowed to those who crossed his path.  We love you Phil!

Thanks be to God for my Uncle Phil!

VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT

The First Annual C.F.F Volleyball Tourney was held at Garland Park in Denver on a picture perfect summer day.  Our hope was that volleyball enthusiasts would come out and volley for a good cause....and, volley for a cause they did!  The Lord was so kind to bless us with a great turn-out, fabulous weather and fun fellowship.  We met our goal in raising funds to purchase board games for family visiting rooms at local correctional facilities.  A great big thank you to all the participants and corporate sponsors who contributed to the success of our day!

SILENT AUCTION BENEFIT

The C.F.F Inaugural Event was a Silent Auction Benefit in June 2013.  Hosted by C.F.F co-founders Nicole M. and Andrew B. the auction raised funds to support our mission which offers spiritual, physical and personal support to families with incarcerated loved ones.  With generous donations of gift baskets, MLB tickets, food gift certificates, inmate artwork etc. the evening was a celebration of God's provision.
